A R.O.C.K. STAR READING PROGRAM BEGAN IN OCTOBER. This is a new reading incentive program for toddlers through students in the seventh grade. The program is offered by the Vestavia Hills Public Library Liberty Park Outreach and R.O.C.K., Reading Opportunities Challenging Kids.
Toddlers through pre-school age can win a new book for every 300 pages read or pages read to them. The goal for kindergarten through fourth grade children will be 500 pages. Students in the fifth, sixth, and seventh grades can win a new book for every 1,000 pages read.
Participants or their parents need to record in their reading logs the title of each book they read along with the number of pages in each book and add up the pages. Reading logs can be turned in and prizes selected on any Wednesday between 10:00 and 4:00 at the library outreach located in the Liberty Park Sports Complex behind the Liberty Park Middle School. New reading logs can be started at any time.
Reading logs turned in will be kept at the library outreach and attached to each participant’s registration card. This program will come to a close at the end of the school year as the library outreach gears up for the annual Summer Reading Program.
